Yale Security Point history

Security World (now trading as Yale Security S.A (Pty) Ltd) was originally formed in 1994 as a division of Tool & Electrical Distributors (Pty) Ltd. In the first year of operation, Security World had grown beyond expectations and as a result of this continued success, an independent company was registered. On the 1st of August 2005 Security World (Pty) Ltd was acquired by ASSA ABLOY S.A. (Pty) Ltd, an international manufacturer and marketer of door opening solutions. The Security World name has since been changed to Yale Security S.A. (Pty) Ltd and the franchised stores now operate under the name “Yale Security Point”.

Overview of the Franchise

Yale Security Point stores specialise in retailing a wide range of security related products. The product range is extensive and includes, amongst other things, alarms, batteries, CCTV systems, electric fencing, garage and gate motors, intercom systems, two way radios, safes, remote control units, security lighting, self-defense products, padlocks, mechanical and electromechanical locks and handles and key cutting.

The stores are primarily aimed at, and cater to, homeowners wanting to address their own security needs through a reputably branded and franchised outlet. Most of a Yale Security Point franchisee’s business is generated through over the counter sales to end-users.


The total investment for a Yale Security Point store varies in relation to store size and stock holding level.

  • Up-front fee: R50 000 excl VAT (incl in est. cost).
  • Establishment cost R940 000.00 excl VAT (may vary according to size and location)

Own Capital Requirement

60% unencumbered funds are required if a loan is to be raised. Assistance is offered in making application to the financial institution. Collateral should be available for the loaned amount.

Set-up cost includes:
  • Franchise Fee
  • Testing equipment & key cutting machine Consignment stock
  • Store layout, design, shop fitting and signage
  • Point of sale system.
The monthly fee structure is as follows:
  • Franchise Fee: 5% of turnover
  • Advertising Fee: 2% of turnover
