Engineering Bursaries in South Africa

 

1. Gold Fields Engineering Bursaries 2014

The closing date for applications is 30 June. Late applications will not be considered
Bursary holders are required to work for the company for one year prior to attending university.
Service contracts one year of each year of study.
Full-time study, academic progress, South African citizens only.
Personal allowance of ± R9 000. A living-out allowance of ± R15 000. Once-off amount only from second year towards a computer allowance.

2. Highveld Steel and Vanadium Bursaries for 2014

Highveld steel is offering engineering bursaries 2014 to full time Engineering Students. Upon graduation bursary holders are required to enter into the service of Highveld Steel for a period equivalent to the duration of the bursary.

This bursary will cover Tuition and residence fees plus an amount of R10 000 for books and other requirements.

3. Mintek Engineering bursaries for 2014

Applications for electrical Engineering bursaries closes 30 June every year.

This electrical engineering bursaries are offered to both both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, except for the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and Physics, which are offered at post-graduate level only.

 

Only South African citizens can apply, male or female from all race groups. People with relevant qualifications and academic merit for full- time study.

 

Bursary will cover Registration, tuition and residence fees plus a book allowance. One year if the bursary is awarded for one year, and two years if the bursary is awarded for two or more years. 

 

Who are we looking for?

Mintek has a strong interest in students who intend to pursue / are currently pursuing postgraduate degrees or diplomas in the
following fields:

· Studying towards any of the fields above with an overall average of 60% and no failed courses or subjects.

4. South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE)

The SAIEE award bursaries to assist deserving students if you are presently studying or intend to study towards a degree, diploma or certificate in ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, at any University or University of Technology in South Africa

 

The closing date for completed application is 30 September each year. Application received after this date will not be considered. Only successful applicants will be notified in writing by end January. Bursaries are awarded only if the following circumstances are met;

You have passed your grade 12 and had obtained a symbol "C" HIGHER GRADE MATHEMATICS, PHYSICAL SCIENCE AND ENGLISH OR HAVE PASSED YOUR PREVIOUS EXAMINATION WITH AN AVERAGE OF 60% PER SUBJECT

5. Lonmin Platinum bursaries

Lonmin offers comprehensive and industry renowned Bursaries to students who wish to pursue a career in mining or mining related disciplines such as Geology, Instrumentation, Mining Engineering, Electrical / Mechanical / Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy

 

The fully paid Bursaries are offered to top performing students who wish to further their studies at accredited formal tertiary institutions.

On successful completion of their academic studies at tertiary institutions the Bursars then join Lonmin as Employees with the designation “Graduates in Training”. As Graduates in Training they are required to undergo a pre-determined development programme which has outcomes based within their relevant field. Each Graduate in Training will be assigned a Mentor for his/her guidance.

* Must be South African citizens and be, or are intending to become full-time students.

6. Grinake Civil Engineering Bursaries for 2014

Closing Date: 31 July

Grinaker Roads and earthworks is offering A civil Engineering Bursaries to Full-time students in Civil Engineering, who successfully completed their first year of   study.

Upon graduation bursary holders are required to enter into service with the donor for a period equivalent to the duration of the     bursary.

Holiday work must be undertaken with the   donor.            

 

Full tuition fees and accommodation if staying in residence. Allowance for books and meals   are given per semester and an   allowance for private   accommodation.

7. Department of Labour engineering Bursaries for 2014

Closing Date: 30 June

One of the bursaries offered by the Department of Labour are Engineering Bursaries. Applicant must be a person with a disability: be it visual, auditory, physical or psychiatric disability at any official training institution.

 

Field of study must be career orientated – student must function effectively after com- pletion of studies. A restricted number of bursaries are available. An application for a bursary does not necessarily imply that the candidate will be successful. Only financially needy students who are RSA cititzens. • Selected candidates will be invited for an interview.

8. Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality (P.E. Unit) bursaries for 2014

Closing date: 31 June normally

One of the bursaries offered by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality are Civil Engineering Bursaries. Bursary holders are contractually bound to service with NMMM for a period equivalent to the bursary sponsored by the Council. Remuneration for holiday work. This bursary covers Tuition, residence and meal fees.

9. BKS civil engineering bursaries for 2014

Closing date: 30 June

BKS is offering Bursaries to full time studies to complete a specified qualification within an Academic University/University of Technology.

Our bursars are provided vacation work during academic recess periods and permanent work upon completion of studies.

 

Requirements
Have passed Grade 12 with a mark of 60% and above.
Would like to pursue a degree / diploma in Civil Engineering.
Are eligible and comply with entrance requirements of a University or Technology University in South Africa.

OR
Have passed 1st/2nd Year tertiary Civil Engineering studies with a minimum of 65% pass.

10. Sasol Limited industrial engineering bursaries for 2014 Closing Date: 31 May

One of the bursaries offered by the Sasol bursary scheme are industrial engineering bursaries. The Sasol bursary scheme offers bursaries on the basis of a service binding contract after graduation for a period equal to the tenure of the bursary.

 

After graduating, the bursary holder is expected to enter into service with the bursary donor for a number of years equivalent to the duration of the bursary.

 

This bursary covers Full tuition, meals and accommodation. Cash amount for pocket/book money.
